The Queen of Limbo: A Funny Teacher Poem for Kids

The Queen of Limbo
Miss Smith at school is boring Her lessons induce snoring
Her hair unkempt and brittle Her smile so tired and little
But last week on vacation I had a revelation …
While waiting for our tapas: Jamòn, patatas bravas
The waiter roared, She’s here! The diners clapped and cheered
Please welcome to Flamingo’s ‘The famous Queen of Limbo’
Then out there danced a lady I thought I had gone crazy
For in a gold bikini Her smile so wide and carefree
Beneath a beanpole, so low Miss Smith came out and limboed
Her silver hair majestic Her heels so undomestic
And then with drumrolls beating She started fire-eating
And for the grand finale She did the splits, sang My Way
The diners shouted Encore Miss headed for the side door
|
No time for adoration She had an obligation
With four more venues waiting To witness her gyrating
She blew a kiss, yelled Thank you! I hid behind my menu
My brain - confused and battered My worldview - torn and tattered …
I tried not to remember But soon, arrived September And final lesson, Monday, Miss Smith limped in, her clothes grey
Her hair unkempt and brittle Her smile so tired and little
At home-time, I stayed seated Until the class had fleeted
How can I help you Emmit? I took a breath then said it
Yes sure Miss Queen of Limbo I saw you at Flamingo’s!
Miss Smith winked quite unshaken My dear you are mistaken
I left the class, took one last look Miss did the splits then marked her books
