Christmas Metaphor
Dad calls Mum a Christmas cracker.
What he means – I'm not so sure.
He laughs and then explains to me,
'It's called a metaphor.'
'Mum bedazzles in her ball gown,
silver sequins, silk green straps.
She's full of great surprises.
Make her mad, and she will snap!'
'Turning heads, she's still a stunner,
shiny lips - so red and huge.'
'I get it! Like when Mummy says
you're Ebenezer Scrooge?'
(At this point, Mum stamps on her daughter's foot beneath the table!)
